What to Expect During a Comprehensive Eye Exam

Many eye diseases and conditions develop without symptoms in the early stages, making routine dilated eye exams essential. Early detection can help prevent vision loss and maintain long-term eye health.

WHY ARE REGULAR EYE EXAMS IMPORTANT?

Pupil Dilation

→ Eye drops enlarge your pupils so Dr. Salter can examine the back of your eye

→ Expect blurry vision (mostly up close) and light sensitivity for approximately 4-6 hours. Plan for a driver if needed.

Visual Acuity Test

→ Measures how well you can see

Refraction Test 

→ Determines your glasses prescription, if needed

Slit Lamp Examination

→ Allows detailed inspection of the eye’s structures to detect diseases

Eye Pressure Measurement 

→ Screens for glaucoma
